HasanAbi: Twitch’s first political streamer

Hasan Doğan Piker, also known as HasanAbi, is one of the most popular streamers on Twitch. Before his broadcasting career, this Turkish-American celebrity worked as a columnist at HuffPost. He also worked as a publicist and journalist at The Young Turks, a YouTube news commentary show. In 2019 he was rumored to be dating celebrity Twitch creator Pokimane.

His experience from those jobs was crucial for his growth as a live streamer. Now, he has over 2.49 million followers and around 114 million total views on Twitch. His YouTube channel has over 1.21 million subscribers and around 370 million views.

HasanAbi has received four streaming awards since 2020. The most recent one was this year at the Streamer Awards for the “Best Just Chatting Streamer”.

What Does He Stream About?

On HasanAbi’s Twitch streams, you can catch him playing a variety of games such as Valorant, CS: GO, Atomic Heart, Dead Space, and a few more. But, most of the time, he makes “Just Chatting” streams, where he talks about recent news and debates politics.

He is a supporter and advocate of left-wing politics and a fierce critic of rights. The main reason for joining the Twitch platform was to present his views on politics to a younger audience.

There are many right-wing supporters and streamers on Twitch and YouTube that are forming public opinions based on their views. HasanAbi, when he was still a presenter at The Young Turks, felt like the left wing needed a representative on these platforms.

In 2020, Piker decided to fully focus on his streaming and retire from his duties at The Young Turks. Although his focal point is Twitch, he regularly posts videos on his YouTube channel. The content on the featured channel is highlights from his gaming and commenting streams.

You can catch HasanAbi teaming up with other popular streamers, as well as with US politicians. He also covers the biggest political events, where one of the biggest was the 2020 US presidential election.

Statistics say that his highest streaming peak reached over 230,000 viewers during the election results. This shows that HasanAbi has a major fan base and he is crucial on this platform for presenting left-wing politics.

However, it is worth pointing out that Twitch banned him for a week in August 2019. The reason was his highly controversial comments during one of his streams. This made him more careful when commenting on US politics.

How Much Is HasanAbi Worth?

According to multiple reports, we believe that HasanAbi has a net worth of between $4 and $6 million. It seems like streaming is his main source of money. He is making between $50,000 and $150,000 per month from Twitch alone.

His YouTube channel isn’t extremely popular at the moment, but it does provide some decent returns. On a monthly basis, this platform provides HasanAbi with a paycheck of between $25,000 and $50,000.

Other income sources are of course from sponsorship deals, but details from them are unknown to the public. As one of the biggest left-wing advocates online, we believe that HasanAbi has a large list of brand deals and sponsors.
